THE STORY
Jamie B. Bourne with Mango

Mango & Jamie B

A companionship that quietly became a collective.

The Origin

Years before Mango existed, Jamie was talking with a coworker about pets and said, almost without thinking, that someday she'd get a Yorkie and name him Mango. There was no real reason for the name; it just came out.

Not long after leaving a 30-year marriage, Jamie found herself in a new place on the water, exactly what she'd always pictured, and mostly hibernating inside it. She knew she needed a reason to get outside, and there was a beautiful walking path along the water just waiting for a dog to walk it. So she started searching, and searching, and searching. Weeks of dogs that were either sickly or far outside what she could afford.

Then she widened the search, and ninety minutes away found a listing for a five-month-old Yorkie puppy. The description read: “Meet Mango.” Jamie nearly fell out of her chair. That was her dog, and somebody else had him. A few days later she drove up to Delaware with her granddaughter to meet him in a Walmart parking lot, and the moment she saw him, she was gone. Mango became her sentinel and muse, the steady presence who got her living again and sat beside her through every late night of doubt and every time she found her way back to writing. Without Mango, it's honestly unclear whether any of this would have unfolded the way it has.

Mango's companionship gave Jamie something to create for, and creating for someone else is what turned private processing into shared art. That simple act, making something in honor of a bond, is the seed everything else in this collective grew from.

How the Journey Unfolded

Mango's Art began as Reiki-imbued digital art made in Mango's honor; a way to hold the bond in something visible.
Heart Whispers Healing Arts emerged as the art pointed to something deeper: the nervous-system regulation and somatic healing Jamie was living through the process, now offered outward as guided journeys.
The Bourne Collective is where it all lives now; the architecture, the art, the healing arts, and the academy, held under one intention for the weary traveler ready to find their way home to themselves.

The Opalite Emergence Fund

Part of Mango & Jamie's journey is making sure this path stays open to the travelers who need it most, even when finances are tight.
